As part of the activities of the INNOFEIT European Digital Innovation Hub (INNOFEIT EDIH), a team from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies (FEEIT) has developed an AI-powered solution for real-time automatic transcription for the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia. The solution was officially presented on July 24, 2026, during a meeting with the President of the Assembly, Afrim Gashi. The project aims to modernize the preparation of parliamentary transcripts by transforming the existing manual workflow into a scalable, inclusive, AI-supported system that enables automatic real-time transcription.
During the presentation, the President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, Afrim Gashi, emphasized that the solution represents a significant step toward the digitalization of the Assembly and the enhancement of its efficiency and transparency. He noted that the established cooperation provides a strong foundation for future joint initiatives focused on the further digitalization of parliamentary processes and the introduction of modern technological solutions into the institution’s operations.
Prof. Dr. Dimitar Taskovski, Coordinator of INNOFEIT EDIH, highlighted the role of European Digital Innovation Hubs in accelerating the digital transformation of both the public and private sectors. He explained that through services such as Test Before Invest, AI-based solution development, digital maturity assessments, training, and access to expert knowledge, INNOFEIT EDIH enables public institutions and companies to adopt state-of-the-art digital technologies in a safe and efficient manner.
Prof. Dr. Branislav Gerazov of FEEIT presented the system’s technical features and performance. He explained that, in order to address the operational challenges involved in preparing parliamentary transcripts, a highly specialized automatic speech recognition system had been developed to meet the requirements for speed, accuracy, and automation.
The Secretary General of the Assembly, Marina Dimovska, emphasized the importance of continuously introducing modern digital technologies into the work of the parliamentary administration, noting that these technologies are a key prerequisite for further improving its efficiency, functionality, and the quality of services provided to Members of Parliament and citizens.
The successful implementation of the project was made possible through the collaboration with Tanja Danailovska, Head of Department on Information and Communications Technology, who ensured that the necessary conditions and resources were available for FEEIT to deploy and operate the system. Deputy Secretary General Boban Stojanoski also made a significant contribution to the project through his efforts to advance the digitalization of the Assembly.
On behalf of FEEIT, the development team also included FEEIT students. Ema Mishevska actively participated in the development and evaluation of the solution, alongside a broader team of annotators who worked on the provided audio materials.
