Course: Modern Systems of Relay Protection
Code: 3ФЕИТ04022
ECTS points: 6 ECTS
Number of classes per week: 3+0+0+3
Lecturer: Prof. Dr. Anton Chaushevski
Course Goals (acquired competencies): Introduction to the latest technical solutions of the relay protection in terms of increasing the reliability and reliability of the power system. Knowledge about the design and adjustment of the parameters of the relay protection, as well as the trends in the development of the modern protection systems in the Electric Power System.
Course Syllabus: Calculations and analysis in electric power system (EPS) in stationary mode and faults for the measured values for the relay protection needs. Protection of individual elements of the energy power system: generator, power transformers, transmission lines and cables, busbars etc.. Analysis of the operation of certain types of protection types (overcurrent, voltage, distance and differential protection). New functions in digital relays as supervision of relay protection, Signaling and data protection. Opportunities for protection using integrated systems for monitoring and management in electricity production and distribution facilities. Development of relay protection using new technologies in information and communication (I&C) technology. Microprocessor and hardware of digital relay protection. Examination of relay protection devices and establishing databases for their properties. Methods for evaluation of the replacement the existing safety systems with new modern solutions.
