Course: Quality Assurance in Radiation Dosimetry
Code: 3ФЕИТ08022
ECTS points: 6 ECTS
Number of classes per week: 3+0+0+3
Lecturer: Prof. Dr. Margarita Ginovska
Course Goals (acquired competencies): Knowledge in physical basis of radiation dosimetry – quantities and units of radiation and dosimetry, interactions of ionizing radiation with matter, techniques and instrumentation for radiation measurements. Competence for understanding and solving certain theoretical and applicative problems for measurements, quality control and calibration. Knowledge for introducing certain protocols and methods for quality assurance in radiation measurements and calibrations in medical physics, radiation safety, industrial and environmental measurements.
Course Syllabus: Introduction to radiation physics and dosimetry. Quantities and units of radiation and dosimetry. Interactions of radiation with matter. Standard techniques and instruments for radiation measurements. Methods for QA&C of ionizing-radiation measurements and calibrations. Application of quality control of radiation measurements in medicine, industry and radiation safety. Novel techniques for quality assurance in radiation dosimetry; Small field dosimetry.
