In the period between 3 July and 7 July 2023, the Summer School “Space Technology 4All” was held at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki within the framework of the Erasmus project “SpaceEdu”. The summer school was attended by teams of lecturers and students from the international partners of this project: the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the University of Naples Federico II, the National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and the Environment of France (INRAE), and the Ss Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje. The local coordinator of the project is Prof. Zoran Hadzi-Velkov.
The FEIT/UKIM team at the summer school was represented by Prof. Zoran Hadzi-Velkov (lecturer), Prof. Valenin Rakovic (lecturer), Assis. Marija Poposka (local coordinator), and the following FEEIT students: Emilia Chona, Sandra Pavleska, Matea Marinova, Anastasija Stafanovska, Magdalena Georgieva, Natasha Bogoevska, David Atanasovski, Ana Sofronoevska and Simona Nikolovska.
At the summer school, twenty professors and lecturers gave courses on various aspects of space technologies and space research, such as: deep space communications, food production in space, impact of space on human health, and legal aspects of space exploration. Prof. Zoran Hadzi-Velkov and Prof. Valentin Rakovic gave lectures on “Introduction to Satellite and Deep Space Communications” and “Fundamentals of Orbital Mechanics”.
The students also participated in the Workshop “Colonization of the Moon”. They were organized into several mixed groups from different partner institutions who conducted their own research on seven important topics related to moon colonization: “Energy in Space”, “Moon to Earth Communications”, “Moon to Moon Communications”, “Space Farming”, “Space Health” and “Space Human Settlements”. FEIT students stood out the most with their work and presented our faculty and our university with flying colors. Their presentation on “Moon Communications” can be downloaded from the following link: https://www.slideshare.net/ZoranHadziVelkov1/mooncommunicationspresentationpdf .
The participants of the summer school also had the opportunity to visit the laboratories dealing with space technologies at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
