Course Goals (acquired competencies): Acquire basic knowledge about working principles of low voltage apparatuses (LVA), their construction, application, designing, catalog selection and their design. Application of LVA in protection and controlling in electric power plants, industry, residential and business facilities |
11. Course Syllabus: General characteristics and classification of low voltage apparatuses – LVA. Nominal operating regimes, degree of protection and structural elements of LVA. Electromagnetic forces and moments in the LVA. Heating and cooling of LVA. Contact systems and the appearance of an electric arc in LVA. LVA for electrical protection. Commutation LVA in switching techniques. Commutation LVA for control. LVA for control. Regulators, controllers, signal sensors. Non-contact switches for AC and DC current. Hybrid LVA. |

20. Forms of assessment |
The course is passed through two partial exams during the semester or through a final exam. The questions cover the theoretical part and the tasks from the auditory exercises. The exam is passed with a minimum of 51 percent of the total number of points. Also during the semester, students take tests, prepare seminars and continuously monitor their activity. |
