10. Course Goals (acquired competencies): Obtaining professional knowledge for designing of technical documentation for construction of the small hydro components, specification and selection of the electrical part of the plant and connection to the grid.
11. Course Syllabus: Small Hydro Power plants (SHPP), classification, importance. Small hydro plants in run-of-river schemes. Small hydro plants in fast running mountain river-flows. Intakes and hydro-technical parts. Powerhouses. Types of turbine wheels. Types of generators. Electrical equipment. Grounding and lightning protection. Control and monitoring. Economics of small HPP, investments for building and operation benefits. Project design of the electrical part and single diagrams. Social and environmental aspects from small HPP.
12. Learning methods: Lectures supported with presentations, interactive lectures, exercises, design of the project documentation for real SHPP projects, professional lecture from of engineers from the practice, workout project tasks and equipment selection.

19. Conditions for acquiring teacher’s signature and for taking final exam Attendance at lectures and auditory exercises.
20. Forms of assessment Through two partial written exams (duration of 2 hours each) or a final written exam on the whole teaching material (duration 2 hours). The student should prepare a seminar paper and submit it by the end of the semester. The points from the partial exams/final exam and the prepared seminar paper are included in the final grade.
It is not allowed to use books, scripts, manuscripts or notes of any kind, mobile phone, tablet or any other electronic device during the exam.
