First Workshop for Assistive Devices with Interact Club Vision at FEEIT FabLab

Објавено: December 29, 2025

As part of the collaboration between the Interact Club Vision and FEEIT FabLab, the first in a series of workshops for the creation of assistive devices was held on December 19 2025. In this collaboration, FEEIT students will mentor a group of high school and primary school students through the process of designing and manufacturing an assistive device intended for augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) of children with disabilities. The goal is to enable easier communication, the expression of feelings, and the clear articulation of their needs.

Within the workshops, participants will have the opportunity to become familiar with the technologies behind the entire manufacturing process, including: electronics design, printed circuit board (PCB) realization, 3D modeling & printing, and microcontroller programming. The ultimate goal is to create a fully functional prototype of an assistive device that can be put into practical use.

The team of FEEIT students is led by Anamarija Ilieva and includes Anastasija Petreska, Sashka Dukic, Andrej Kalanoski, Andrej Trendafilov, and Angel Zaturoski – students of the Computer Hardware Engineering and Electronics (KHIE) program. The team is under the mentorship of Nikola Jovanovski, M.Sc., and professors Dr. Josif Kjosev and Dr. Branislav Gerazov.

This initiative serves as an example of how youth, education, and innovation can come together to create real-world solutions with a social impact. We believe this is only the beginning of a long-term cooperation between the faculty and the club, aimed at sensitizing the youth and involving them in the advancement of inclusion, equal opportunities, quality of life for children with disabilities.

“Innovation is most powerful when it serves those who need it most.”
