A team from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies (FEEIT) participated in the preparation of a study on the impact of EVN Macedonia on the electric power sector, the economy, and society

On the occasion of 20 years of presence in the Macedonian electric power sector, teams from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies and the Faculty of Economics at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje worked on a study aimed at presenting the company’s impact on the development of the electric power sector in the country, as well as its broader economic, social, and societal influence over the past two decades. The analyses conducted by the FEIT team focused on changes in the electric power sector during the period 2006–2026 and the role of EVN Macedonia in the processes of restructuring, liberalization, and compliance with European legislation. The study also covered the development of the distribution network, integration of renewable energy generation, development of metering systems, distribution system management, organizational processes, digitalization, participation in electricity markets, development of electromobility, and electricity generation from distributed sources using renewable energy.

Part of the analyses has been published in the study on socio-economic and energy impact titled “EVN Macedonia – 20 Years of Development, 2006–2026,” whose promotion took place on April 29, 2026. The event was attended by representatives of the company, state institutions, the academic and business communities, as well as media representatives. In addition to addresses by the President of the Management Board of EVN Macedonia, Mr. Maier, the President of the Assembly, Mr. Gashi, the Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources, Ms. Božinovska, and the President of the Council of Foreign Investors, Mr. Mizo, brief presentations of the study were also delivered.

The results of the analyses conducted by the FEIT team were presented by Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Krkoleva Mateska. Following the presentations, a panel discussion was organized focusing on the key findings of the analyses included in the study. FEIT was represented by Prof. Dr. Mirko Todorovski and Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Krkoleva Mateska.
