Courese: Voltage Quality from Renewable Energy Sources (RES)
Code: 3ФЕИТ02014
ECTS points: 6 ECTS
Number of classes per week: 3+0+0+3
Lecturer: Prof. Dr. Goran Rafajlovski
Course Goals (acquired competencies): With the module finalization student will know the condition and rules for connection of of several RES based generator systems on the distribution network in accordance to the EN-50160 Standard. Student will gain skills for solving problems related to compensation of reactive power and high harmonics and be prepared to design basic structure of some active power filters based on power electronics.
Course Syllabus: Technical rules and methods for assessment of network disturbances produced by electrical devices as a part of one power plant based on renewable energy sources (RES). Basic principles of the flicker variation. Long term and short term flicker. Measurement and assessment of flicker severity, voltage variation, reactive power and high harmonics including calculation of the total harmonic distortion (THD). Emission Limits as a special value of disturbance. Connection assessment and emission limits according EN-50160 regulations. Calculation methods, in applied point of common coupling, for slow voltage changes Δu in the low- and medium voltage grid coused by generating units based on RES. Condition and Rules for connection of of several RES based generator systems on the distribution network related to the EN-50160 Standard. Compensation of reactive power and high harmonics. Basic structure of some active power filters based on power electronics.
