Course Goals (acquired competencies): Understanding f basics of energy efficient networking ind ability of design of conceptual solutions for smart and efficient networking.
Course Syllabus: Concept of energy efficiency in telecommunications. Basic concepts, architectures and models. Mechanisms for energy efficiency on physical, MAC and network layers. Energy harvesting algorithms in wireless networks. Overview of energy efficient solutions in contemporary wireless networks (cellular, sensor, ad-hoc and heterogeneous networks). Management in Smart grid environment.General framework for evaluation of energy efficiency (E3F) in telecommunication system (system, resource and traffic models, relevant metrics and Case Studies: Energy Efficiency in LTE). New standards and standardization activities for energy efficient networks. Ongoing research, past, ongoing and future projects and trends.
