Course Goals (acquired competencies): The students will learn about the influence of building automation on energy consumption and about the measures and activities that increase energy efficiency and ensure future sustainability. They will be taught to promote energy efficiency and improve the functionality of residential and commercial objects.
Course Syllabus: Introduction to intelligent control systems in smart buildings. Control systems for buildings. Heating and cooling control subsystems in smart buildings. Lighting control subsystems. Access control and video surveillance subsystem. Control system for fire protection. Sensors and actuators used in building automation. Central control unit of building automation systems. Principle of energy control in smart buildings. Alternative sources of energy in smart buildings.
