Course Goals (acquired competencies):
With successful finalization of this module student will gain a fundamental knowledge about the principles of energy efficiency in modern adjustable speed drives (ASD). Student will be able do design the basic electric drive control systems and make an assessment of Industry application of variable speed drives (VSD-s) modern control techniques with improved energy efficiency.
Course Syllabus:
Introduction (Fundamentals of energy efficiency). Adjustable speed drives ASD and and variable speed drives VSD as an important consumer of electric power. Energy efficient electric motors. Power factor. Energy efficiency assessment, measurement of efficiency and related International Standards. Implementation of the energy efficiency – world experience and case studies.
