Course Goals (acquired competencies): Gain knowledge about materials used for energy storage and conversion. Special emphasis is given to the latest concepts for materials design, as well as the technologies for their application in increasing energy efficiency.
Course Syllabus: Types of the materials for energy storage and conversion. Methods for characterization and investigation of the materials. Principle of operation of fuel cells, batteries, solar cells and condensers. Ecological and economic aspects of materials used for energy storage and conversion. Thermodynamic processes in materials, materials for thermal insulation and energy saving. Thermal insulation in passive energy buildings.
