Course Goals (acquired competencies): Understanding of concept for heterogeneous networking and ongoing supporting standards.
Course Syllabus: Concept of reconfigurability in telecommunication systems. Network and user reconfigurabiity. Vertical handover. Transparency. Provisioning E2E QoS in heterogeneous networks. Standardization activities (IEEE 802.21). QoS algorithms, mobility management and resource reconfigurability in heterogeneous scenarios. Implementation of Media Independent Handover (MIH). Cooperativeness in telecommunication networks. Network cognition. Software Defined Radio (SRD). Design of multiple interfaces smart devices. Design of infrastructural components in cognitive networks. Standardization (IEEE 802.22). Adaptivity and reconfigurability of particular layer in protocol stack.Vertical cross-layer optimizations (cross-layering) in reconfigurable networks in static and dynamic environment. Implementation of machine learning and Ai algorithms. Interconnections of cross-layering with cooperativeness and cognition. Resource reconfigurability. Strategy for channel assignment (static and dynamic). implementation of agents. Dynamic management and spectrum usage. Advanced algorithms. Composite radio station (CRE). Implementation of protocol boosters. Reconfigurability in heterogeneous environment. Future developments and trends in heterogeneous networks.
