Within the activities of the IEEE Section of N Macedonia and the Signal Processing Society (SPS), on June 16, 2023, INNOFEIT marked the great jubilee – 75 years since the establishment of the IEEE SPS.
The event was opened by prof. Anastas Mishev, President of the Macedonian Section of the IEEE. He emphasized that the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) represents the largest worldwide organization of this type and counts over 420,000 professionals from 190 countries in the world, of which about 150,000 are students. Annually IEEE sponsors over 2000 scientific conferences globally, and the IEEE Xplore scientific papers database contains more than 5 million publications, with over 200,000 new ones each year.
The special guest of the event was prof. Sofia Bogdanova, who is the first president of the Signal Processing Chapter in the Macedonian section. She said SPS, founded in 1948, is the oldest of all IEEE Chapters with over 19,000 members from 120 countries and 270 local chapters. She referred to the beginnings of this department in N Macedonia and its development over the years.
The team of students who won the first place in the world student competition in signal processing IEEE SP Cup also had their presentation at the event. Daniela Janeva, Stefan Krstevski, Matea Tashkovska and Dusan Merdzhanovski presented the competition task, their proposed solution and their impressions from the competition.
