In December 2023, the realization of the project “Smart integration of electric vehicles in energy communities” was completed, financed by UKIM (NIP.UKIM.22-23.12). The project aimed to propose a fair solution for sharing energy through smart charging of electric vehicles, which would motivate citizens to form energy communities and which would guarantee them fairness.
Key results of the project:
- A mathematically fair, computationally efficient method for sharing energy in energy communities has been developed;
- Through simulations, the developed method has been tested in hypothetical energy communities in different European countries;
- The obtained results have been published in journals with an impact factor and have been presented at international and national conferences and seminars;
- A report was compiled with an overview of best practices related to energy sharing through smart charging of electric vehicles;
The financing of this project proposal allowed the project team (Assist. Prof. Vladimir Gjorgievski – coordinator, prof. Snezana Cundeva, Assist. Prof. Blagoja Markovski, Assist. Bodan Velkovski and Angela Meshkova) to expand its scientific research work, while contributing to new development directions for the democratization of the energy sector. In addition, this research contributed to a better understanding of the challenges and opportunities that the integration of electric vehicles in the power system imposes on various stakeholders, which is a key step for achieving the energy and climate goals defined in the national strategic documents. An important goal of the project is to introduce young researchers to current areas of scientific research.
