The system for human-robot vocal interaction Robi was presented at FEEIT. The system was developed by the students Jovana Mihajloska, Daniela Karakuleva and Margarita Tashulova, within their diploma thesis work. Robi is designed to interact with children by telling stories and asking questions. The children’s answers in turn actively influence the course of the story.
The robotic system was also presented at the public event SintEZa 2024 where it really managed to attract the attention of visitors of all ages. They asked questions about its motor skills, its speech synthesis engine, as well as its possible application for robot-assisted therapy of children with Autism.
The Group for Speech Technologies Speech@FEEIT is working on the improvement of interaction systems in the Macedonian language. Robi uses the Macedonian speech synthesis voice Suze developed by the group as part of the localization activities of UNICEF’s assistive communication application Cboard.
