Course Goals (acquired competencies): By completing this course, the student will be able to make a model for power plants and substation control systems and to understand control, protection and monitoring subsystems.  This course offers students an opportunity to learn about modern control and protection systems in terms of safety and security and analysis of operational problems affecting people’s safety. Students will acquire knowledge to handle engineering tasks, taking into account important technical, economic, environmental, security and social constraints.

Course Syllabus: Power plants and substations moder control systems and data acquisition. Components of SCADA systems. Energy management and automatic generation control subsystem. Security monitoring, measurement and protection subsystem in power plants and substation. Fault location. Analysis of operational problems affecting people’s safety. Cost reduction. Environmental protection. Sustainable management.
