Course Goals (acquired competencies): Upon completing this course, the student acquires knowledge about energy efficient technologies for electricity generation and environment friendly technologies in the direction of improving energy efficiency.
Course Syllabus: Increasing energy efficiency in electrical energy production. New technologies and methods for coal combustion. Precombustion technologies. In situ technologies. Postcombustion technologies. Technologies for coal fluidized-bed combustion. Utilization of natural gas as an energy resource and as environmentally friendly fuel. Gas turbines and their application in a combined-cycle power plants. Cogeneration power plants. Environmentally acceptable technologies for electrical energy production from Renewable Energy Sources (RES) in addition to energy efficiency.
