Courses: Real Time DSP Microcontrollers
Code: 3ФЕИТ05001
ECTS points: 6 ECTS
Number of classes per week: 3+0+0+3
Lecturer: Prof. Dr. Josif Kjosev
Course Goals (acquired competencies): Knowledge of the features and the limitations of the digital signal processors, knowledge of the architecture and instruction set of a specific DSP, using tools for DSP programming and application, implementation and optimization of DSP algorithams regarding their signal and/or control processing function.
Course Syllabus: Examples of real-time applications, examples of DSP families, general rules for DSP selection. Detailed architecture of specific DSPs (TMS320C55xx, MC56800E, C2000). Instruction set specifics. Development environment (Code Composer Studio, Code Warrior, Processor Expert ). Specifics of DSP integer arithmetic. Overview of peripherals. Libraries and optimizations for real-time operation. DSP extensions in the contemporary microcontrollers. Microproject depending on the scope of interests (audio or image or video processing, or numerically intensive control algorithms.
