ECTS points: 6 ECTS

Number of classes per week:3+0+0+3

Lecturer: Dr. Natasha Markovska, Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts

Course Goals (acquired competencies): Acquisition of knowledge on energy and climate change and assessing energy technologies by regional and economic aspects, the key concepts of sustainable development and the risks and impacts of energy technologies on the environment and health.

Subject of the course content: 1. Energy and climate change (Climate Changes Convention, Kyoto Protocol, Greenhouse gas emissions and measures for greenhouse gas emissions reduction; Energy planning: scenarios for greenhouse gas emissions reduction – technical analyses and socio-economic implications).  2. Environmental and economic evaluation of energy technologies (Risks and influences of energy technologies: comparative assessment; Evaluation methodologies – marginal costs curve; Prioritizing and optimal technologies transfer).  3.
