10. | Course Goals (acquired competencies):
Upon completing this course, the student acquires knowledge about the methods and capability to use modern techniques and tools used for planning the development of power plants in the power system. |

11. | Course Syllabus:
Load diagram and load duration curve. Load diagram division. Approximation of load duration curve. Methods for predicting the load in the power system. Hydrological data, their analysis and methods for data processing. Determination of required structure of power plants in the power system. Order of building power plants. Preparatory works and methods for determining the order of power plant construction. Exploitation characteristics of thermal power plants and hydro power plants and their approximation. Methods for determining the expected electrical energy production of hydro power plants. Methods for determining the expected electrical energy production of thermal power plants. Application of the method of combination, the method of equivalent curves. Determination of power system production costs. Economic analyzes and criteria for selection of suitable variant for the development of power system production. |
