FEIT is a participant in the new international project “Advancement of the use of radiation technologies for improved efficiency of resources”, financed by the International Atomic Energy Agency.
The national coordinator prof. Hristina Spasevska, together with scientists and experts from Albania, Greece, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Macedonia, Portugal, Moldova, Romania, Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovakia, Turkey, Ukraine and Uzbekistan, who in the next four years will work to strengthen cooperation on radiation technologies.
The main goals of the project are the use of ionizing radiation for:
- plastic recycling and reduction of plastic waste, by improving recycling methods and the implementation of new plants with accelerated electrons,
- application of green technologies in identifying and characterizing pollutants, but also comparison of conventional methods with the use of ionizing radiation,
- establishment of new quality standards, i.e. calibration methods, traceability in large dose dosimetry, intercomparisons of dosimetric measurements and quality management systems.
