As part of his invited lecture at the Sixth International Conference on Assistive Technologies and Communications – ASTEK 2024, which took place in Belgrade, on November 15, 2024, prof. Branislav Gerazov presented FEEIT’s long-standing successful cooperation with the Association for Assistive Technologies “Open the Windows” in the design and development of assistive technologies. In front of special educators from Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, he presented the many student projects that FEEIT’s undergraduate and master students have developed over the years in the field of assistive technologies.
A special focus was placed on the implementation of the Augmented and Assistive Communication (AAC) tool Govorko and the localization of Cboard, the development of the Macedonian speech synthesis voice Suze and the Assistive Keyboard developed within the framework of the multidisciplinary student innovation program INNO-SAE 2023.
As part of the event, prof. Gerazov took part in the panel “Challenges and Opportunities for Using Assistive Technology in Education and Rehabilitation” in which he spoke about the potential of including assistive technologies and universal design in the educational process in higher education at technical faculties, the importance of cooperation in this domain with organizations that work directly with people with disabilities, as well as the challenges in developing assistive devices and applications that can be realistically used by end users.
