Degree: Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies in the field of Data Science

With the development of modern technologies in the field of computer systems and information technologies (IT), there is a serious need for a solid engineering staff that would actively participate in the development of solutions for advanced data analysis and the creation of intelligent algorithms in the field of artificial and machine intelligence, thereby creating added value on the data itself as well as discovering new knowledge hidden in that data. With the help of these advanced solutions, companies make data-driven decisions and become more competitive and profitable. In addition to the necessary aspects for developing and implementing solutions in the field of data science, the following important areas will also be covered by the degree programme:

•   Analysis, design and implementation of solutions and algorithms in the field of data science applied in various industry sectors and domains;
•   Development and implementation of solutions and algorithms in the field of machine learning and machine intelligence;
•  Development and implementation of solutions and algorithms in the field of deep learning with artificial neural networks;

•   Distributed and parallel data processing;
•   Image and video processing using machine intelligence algorithms;

•  Speech processing using machine intelligence algorithms;
•    Text and natural language processing using machine intelligence algorithms;
•    Knowledge and application of optimization algorithms;

•    Application of the developed solutions and systems in different industries and domains.
The need for educated personnel in the field of data science is easily noticeable in the academic world (at the universities), but it is also evident in the industry. The curriculum of the second cycle of studies in Data Science in Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies will enable the students to acquire skills for advanced analysis of data of various types (tabular, multimedia, image, video, speech, natural languages, etc.), and finally, knowledge and skills for developing smart and intelligent systems using algorithms and approaches from machine learning and artificial intelligence. Modern and state-of-the-art technologies and algorithms from several important areas will be covered, such as intelligent systems, smart devices, sensors and sensor systems, information systems, databases and big data, data processing and analysis, computing and cloud processing. The students will also be competent to work in inter-disciplinary teams. The studies would enable the students to further continue their informal education in the field of data science (courses, trainings…), but also to resume their formal education in the third cycle of studies, doctoral studies.
