Students Marko Donevski, Elena Todorova, and Maja Naumoska from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies (FEEIT) won the grand prize for the best project at the 29th edition of ICAMES (International Cultural and Academic Meeting of Engineering Students) – an international cultural and academic gathering of engineering students, organized by the Engineering Society of Boğaziçi University in Istanbul, Turkey, held from May 5–11, 2025.
The students presented the project “AI-Driven Smart Rehabilitation for Lateral Ligament Knee Injuries”, an innovative solution for rehabilitation after lateral knee ligament injuries. The system uses sensors and artificial intelligence to provide a personalized rehabilitation approach at home. It enables real-time movement tracking, adaptive exercise routines based on the patient’s progress, and remote monitoring by healthcare professionals through a mobile app and web platform. This approach has the potential to significantly improve the quality and accessibility of the rehabilitation process. The FEEIT team’s project stood out for its practical application, the integration of technology with healthcare solutions, and its innovative approach, which contributed to it being declared the best project of the competition.
ICAMES is a competition for engineering projects, featuring undergraduate students from various engineering disciplines worldwide. Student teams from Italy, Ukraine, Cyprus, Canada, Jordan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, Austria, Georgia, and North Macedonia participated in this year’s event. The FEEIT team worked under the mentorship of Assistant MSc. Aleksandar Krleski and received support from the Dean of FEEIT, Prof. Dr. Vladimir Atanasovski.
This achievement is yet another confirmation that FEEIT produces high-quality and ambitious engineers, ready to face challenges and shine on a global level. Congratulations to the team, with best wishes for many more successes ahead!
