FEIT successfully organizes the 30th International Conference IWSSIP 2023

The Jubilary 30th International Conference on Systems, Signals and Image Processing, IWSSIP 2023, was held in the ancient city of Ohrid, N. Macedonia, a UNESCO world heritage site, in the period June 27-29th 2023. The Conference was organized by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies (FEEIT) at the Ss Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje and technically co-sponsored by the IEEE and IEEE North Macedonia Section. IWSSIP 2023 follows the successful IWSSIP events previously held in 13 different countries and for the first time comes to North Macedonia.

254 authors from 16 countries from 5 continents took part in IWSSIP 2023, presenting 74 scientific papers focusing on image and video processing, biomedical signal processing, audio and speech processing, multimedia, networks, wireless communications, machine learning, power and security, and a Special Session on Radars and Remote Sensing.

The program featured three renowned invited keynote speakers, namely, professor Jaap van de Beek from Lulea University of Technology, Sweden, who spoke on the subject of Meta Surfaces for Cellular Networks, professor Ioannis Pitas from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, who delivered a lecture on the Big Data Analytics for Natural Disaster Management, and professor Zabih Ghassemlooy from Northumbria University, United Kingdom, who introduced the audience to the field of Optical Wireless Communication.

IWSSIP 2023 featured 16 technical sessions (including the two online sessions). Out of 74 papers, 73 were presented. The average number of participants in the technical sessions was over 30, and the average number of participants in the Keynote lectures exceeded 50.

The conference included numerous social events, such as а boat trip to the city of Ohrid, а guided tour of the Ohrid historical sites, а gala dinner, and a series of other gatherings, where the local participants and the participants from abroad had a chance to network and plan for future joint activities.

 

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies proved to be an excellent organizer of another successful international conference.
