Course Goals (acquired competencies): To understand and to adequately describe the principles of electrothermal conversion, the electric process heating technologies, construction and characteristics of heating furnaces and electrothermal devices. Competence for adequate choice of electrothermal process and device. |
11. Course Syllabus: Electrothermal energy conversion. Heat transfer. Direct resistance heating. Indirect resistance heating. Induction heating. High frequent dielectric heating. Electrical arc heating. Plasma heating. Electron beam heating.Temperature measurements and regulation. |

20. Forms of assessment |
Continuous assessment. During the semester the student can take two partial written exams (duration of 90 minutes each) or a final written exam on the whole teaching material (duration 2 hours). The final grade is based on all student activities during the course including the homeworks and the reports from the laboratory exercises. It is not allowed to use books, scripts, manuscripts or notes of any kind, mobile phone, tablet or any other electronic device during the exam, except calculator. |
