10. Course Goals (acquired competencies):

Acquiring knowledge of principles of structure of matter, general properties of different kinds of ionising radiation, interaction of ionising radiation with matter, with specific accent on interaction of ionising radiation with solid matter.

11. Course Syllabus:

Electron configuration and structure of solids. Defects and imperfections in crystal structure. Types and properties of ionising radiation. Interaction of ionising radiation with matter. Detection and testing of changes in matter caused by ionising radiation. Stimulated emission of light. Paramagnetism.

12. Learning methods:

Lectures, teamwork, guest lecturers, preparation and presentation of project tasks and seminar works.
