Course Goals (acquired competencies): Gain knowledge about types of solar cells, as well as for the production processes of solar panels. Special emphasis is given to strategies that would increase the production of electricity from solar panels.
Course Syllabus: Types of solar cells, materials and technologies for production. Manufacturing processes for solar cells: silicon and thin-layer. Techno-economic analysis of different types of technologies for solar cells production. Technologies to assembling of solar cells. Concentrator solar panels. Methods for testing and standardization. Measures for reducing of production cost of solar panels. Strategies and challenges for increasing the competitiveness of solar panels over other energy sources. The impact of the production and use of solar panels to the environment.
