10. Course Goals (acquired competencies): The students will be enriched with knowledge for planing and projecting of satellite systems and implementation of standards for quality. Moreover, the students will be enriched with knowledge for advanced satellite communications and services. | ||||||||
11. Course Syllabus: Historical development. Components of the Digital modulations in satellite systems. Calucaltions of error probability in presence of noise and fading. Impact of the radio wave propagations in the quality of transmission. Designing fixed wireless point-to-point systems. Example of fixed wireless point-to-point systems project. Designing point to multiple points system (local access systems: WLL – wireless local loop). Satellite communications. Satellite links. Power and loss calculations. Systems with multiple access (FDMA, TDMA, Aloha, CDMA). VSAT systems. Mobile satellite services (GEO and non-GEO). Global Positioning System – GPS. Satellite and cellular system integration. Broadband Satellite systems. | ||||||||

19. Conditions for acquiring teacher’s signature and for taking final exam | Regular participation to lectures and tutorial classes and completion of all laboratory exercises. | |||||||
20. Forms of assessment | During the semester, two partial written exams are provided (at the middle and at the end of the semester, lasting 120 minutes) and a potential seminar work. The points from the partial exams, the points from the seminar work, the points from the homework assignments and the points from the laboratory exercises. In the planned exam sessions, a written exam is taken (duration 120 minutes). The final grade includes the points from the written exam, the points from the seminar work, the points from the homework assignments and the points from the laboratory exercises. It is not allowed to use books, scripts, manuscripts or notes of any kind during the exam, as well as a calculator, mobile phone, tablet or any other electronic device. |
