9. Course Prerequisites
10. Course Goals (acquired competencies):

Understanding of basic concepts of telecommunication business and regulatory and economic aspects of telecommunications. Knowledge of basics of regulation, market analysis, project management, product/service/market development, basic financial analysis; preparation of business case. Readiness for research in these areas.

11. Course Syllabus:

Development of telecommunication business, technologies and services. Regulation as a legal framework for telecom business. Monopoly and competition. Segmentation of telecom markets. Elements of telecommunication business management: managements of projects/processes, human resources, decisions, risks, brands, security etc. Strategies for development and planning. Research, development and innovations. Development of new products and services. Financial analysis. Business case. Elements of business plan. Marketing. Challenges and opportunities for new telecom operators. Mergers and acquisitions of telecom operators. Trends in telecom markets. Influence of ICT development to the telecommunication business and society in general.

19. Conditions for acquiring teacher’s signature and for taking final exam Presence at classes and seminar work.
20. Forms of assessment

During the semester, tests are conducted during the classes. Written exam is taken for a maximum of 90 minutes at the end of the semester or in exam sessions. A seminar paper or project task (team or individual) is prepared. The final grade includes points from the exam, tests and from the seminar paper or project assignment. A special instruction published before each exam regulates the manner of taking the exam and the use of teaching aids and electronic devices during the exam.
