Course Goals (acquired competencies): Upon completion of the course, the student is expected to be able to apply a deeper technical analysis of the wireless multimedia networks. It is expected to be able to create wireless multimedia networks, create protocols, services and applications for wireless multimedia networks, and be able to deal with scientific research in the field of wireless multimedia networks.
Course Syllabus: Mobile multimedia architectures. Analysis of multimedia mobile networks. Macro-mobility (Mobile IP). Micro-mobility. TCP/IP over a wireless network. MMS, EMS, IM (Instant Messaging) services, location-dependent and push services in the mobile Internet. Real-time services via wireless multimedia networks: video/audio transmission, TV over a wireless network, video conferencing. VoIP (Voice over IP) services over wireless multimedia networks (WiFi, 4G, 5G). IPTV services through wireless multimedia networks. Distribution of content. Performance of Mobile Multimedia Networks (QoS – Quality of Service). KPI (Key Performance Indicators) in wireless multimedia networks. Signaling network architectures through wireless IP networks. AAA (Authentication, Authorization, Accounting) and reliability in wireless multimedia networks.
