10. Course Goals (acquired competencies): To understand and to adequately describe the world energy scene, the environmental impact of energy use and to propose measures and solutions for sustainable development. Competence for application of the acquired knowledge. |
11. Course Syllabus: Elements of sustainable development – environment, society and economy. Climate changes. Energy sources, nonrenewable and renewable. The environmental impact of energy use. Environmental, climate and energy policy. Mitigation measures. Sustainable energy technologies. Examples of sustainable energy supply. Towards a sustainable electricity supply system. |

20. Forms of assessment |
Continuous assessment. During the semester the student can take two partial written exams (duration of 60 minutes each) or a final written exam on the whole teaching material (duration 2 hours). The student should prepare and present seminar work. The final grade is based on all student activities during the course including the seminar work. It is not allowed to use books, scripts, manuscripts or notes of any kind, mobile phone, tablet or any other electronic device during the exam. |
