8. Lecturer D-r Marija Chundeva-Blajer, D-r Zhivko Kokolanski
9. Course Prerequisites
Passed: Fundamentals of electrical engineering
Taken course: Fundamentals of electric circuits
10. Course Goals (acquired competencies): The course is developed to provide knowledge about measurement methods and techniques applied in measurements of electrical quantities. The students are learning principles of functioning and application of measuring instruments.
11. Course Syllabus: The course is beginning with basic terms and definitions in measurement technique, legal metrology, and static and dynamic characteristics and block-diagrams of measurement instruments. Further, the theory of measurement uncertainty, type A and type B are explained. Also, Gauss and Student distribution and measurement of indirect values are addressed. Measurement converters and amplifiers, analog instruments, voltmeter, amperemeter, ohmmeter and wattmeter are being taught. Basic of digital measurement instruments, measurement of time interval and frequency, digital voltmeters and oscilloscopes are explained. The course is dealing with measurement bridges and comparators. Introduction in electrical measurement of non-electrical quantities. Measurement systems.
12. Learning methods: Lectures, tutorials, laboratory exams, seminar and project works, individual tasks and self-study

from 91to 100 points 10 (ten) (A)
19. Conditions for acquiring teacher’s signature and for taking final exam regular lectures attendance and accomplished laboratory exercises
20. Forms of assessment

During the semester, two partial written exams are provided (at the middle and at the end of the semester, lasting 90 minutes), tests that are conducted during the classes and a test from laboratory exercises (after the end of the exercises). For students who have passed the partial exams and the laboratory exercises test, a final oral exam can be conducted through the presentation and defense of project work (duration 60 minutes). The final grade includes the points from the partial exams, the tests and the final oral exam.

In the planned exam sessions, a written exam is taken (duration 120 minutes). For students who have passed the written exam and the test of laboratory exercises, a final oral exam is conducted through the presentation and defense of project work (duration 60 minutes). The points from the written exam, the tests and the final oral exam, and points for regular lectures attendance, are included in the final grade.
