Course Goals (acquired competencies): Learning and theoretical and practical analysis of: modern digital switching structures and systems in the telephone network, signaling and signaling protocols, synchronization, fast packet switching assemblies, packet switching, routing theory and routing protocols in the Internet. |

11. Course Syllabus: Introduction to switching. Historical development of switching systems. Telephone network. Digital switching structures and systems. Signaling and signaling protocols. Synchronization. Introduction to Internet routing. Packet switching (Layer 2 / Layer 3). Routing theory. Routing protocols. Switching in Voice over IP (VoIP) networks. Future switching and routing techniques. |
