FEEIT student team ranked first for IEEE SPS Cup 2023 World Finals

The “Neuro FEEIT” team made up of FEEIT students is ranked first for the world finals of the IEEE Signal Processing Society Cup. The competition is organized by the IEEE SPS and the Center for Translational Research in Neuroimaging and Data Science (TReNDS), Georgia Institute of Technology, USA. The task this year is the development of a system for differentiating schizophrenia and bipolar psychosis using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rsfMRI). The finals of the competition will be held on June 5, 2023 in Rhodes, Greece, within the program of the largest world conference in the field of signal processing ICASSP 2023.

Neuro FEEIT was led by master’s student Daniela Janeva, and consisted of: Matea Tashkovska, Stefan Krsteski, Ana Krstevska, Angela Meshkova, Dusan Merdzhanovski, Mario Velichkovski and Marko Paloski. The team was mentored by assoc. prof. Branislav Gerazov. In the global competition, Neuro FEEIT is placed first in the upcoming final according to the official ranking on Kaggle. The second and third placed teams with whom they will compete at the finals are from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and the Israel Institute of Technology.
