For the promotion of engineering in electrical engineering and information technologies fostered by FEEIT a 3-day course on “Free software, free knowledge and free creation” was held in the period March 13 – 17, 2023. The course was held within the activities of the FEEIT FabLab, and attended by 33 students from the high schools “Ilinden”, “Nikola Karev”, “Orce Nikolov”, “Rade Jovchevski Korchagin” and “Mihajlo Pupin”.
In the course, the eminent expert in the field of free software, Damjan Georgievski from Free Software Macedonia and Hacklab KIKA, gave a guest presentation on the topic of the fundamentals, history and future of free software. Talks about FEEIT FabLab and an introduction to work with LabVIEW were held by assoc. prof. d-r Zhivko Kokolanski, FEEIT. Lectures on the topic of free software for engineering and scientific work and and introduction to work in the GNU/Linux terminal were given by assoc. prof. d-r Branislav Gerazov, FEEIT.
The course was supported by the organization Free Software Macedonia and Hacklab KIKA, and the IEEE Section of N Macedonia through its departments: the Joint Department for Signal Processing and Engineering in Medicine and Biology (SP/EMB), the Joint Department for Electronic Components, Instrumentation and Measurements, Semiconductors circuits (ED/IM/SSC), as well as the IEEE Life Member Affinity Group (LM80077).
