OPENING OF SCEESD 2025 at FEEIT

Објавено: October 31, 2025

On 28th of October 2025 the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies (FEEIT) opened the 13th Student’s Conference on Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development in Skopje (SCEESD) taking place from 28 to 31 October 2025 at FEEIT in Skopje.  As its host, the Dean of FEEIT, prof. Vladimir Atanasovski, PhD, provided the opening remarks at the Conference.

‘The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies is a long-term pioneer in the area of energy efficiency, renewable resources and sustainable development. Our Mission is to create engineers who will understand technology and apply it to the benefit of the community. We, at FEEIT constantly invest in talent development, innovations and interdisciplinary research, as well as in modern, contemporary laboratories, where students can obtain a hands-on experience regarding topics relevant to the Conference. We are proud that with initiatives such as SCEESD we are enhancing our presence in the process of energy, green and digital transition.’ – emphasized prof. Vladimir Atanasovski – the Dean of FEEIT in his address in front of the participants.

The Dean of FEEIT, prof. Vladimir Atanasovski, additionally outlined that in the previous years, SCEESD turned into a Student’s Conference with a long lasting tradition at our Faculty – a forum that unites both students, professors, researchers and industry representatives alike with a common mission: to share know-how, experience and innovative ideas targeting the future of energy and technology. With a clear vision – to enhance students’ role as a driving force of positive changes, as engineers-to-be, who will contribute towards solutions that will protect our eco-system and provide technological development in a sustainable direction. SCEESD is the venue where the youth can showcase that energy efficiency is not solely a technological challenge, but also a value/merit, a way of thinking and a living style.

‘This edition provides a fresh focus of the most current themes: renewable energy sources and their integration within the energy system, electric vehicles and energy efficiency transportation, circular economy and waste management as well as the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in energy. By means of AI, nowadays we are able to develop smart systems that follow, analyze and predict consumption, and as such directly provide for decrease of shortages, increase of efficiency and for better resource management. ‘- stated the Dean of FEEIT, prof. Atanasovski.

SCEESD, as a Conference targeting students is also always supported by the ‘University of Sc. Cyril and Methodious’ (USCM) and the Student’s Assembly at USCM. On its behalf, the President Angela Vasilevska, has addressed the students by expressing her support for the students’ engagement by encouraging them to provide ideas and thus be active moving force of positive changes.

Emilija Zumrova, SCEESSD’s President, emphasized that this Conference represents a compilation of know-how, innovations and visions for the future.

‘Every SCEESD event has its own story. This year, our story is about vision, courage and also about taking action. In a society that increasingly demands energy efficiency solutions – we, the engineers are the ones who need to provide that change. Our mission is not only debating about the problems, but we are the ones who need to move forward towards that change. Our mission is not only talking about the issues, but to also think in practical terms, with innovation and interdisciplinarity. Energy efficiency is not only a technical term- it is a way of thinking and a way of living’, said Zumrova.

At the end of the official opening ceremony, prof. Lihnida Stojanovska- Georgievska, PhD, in her address as the Conference Coordinator, emphasized the importance of the permanent growth of the Conference and the role of all the previous generations that have invested in it so far.

‘Today, we continue with the series of successfully organized conferences, which are a proof of the initially incepted vision of the Students’ Conference, which grants the students with the role of its creators, organizers, researchers, moderators, as well as speakers and its designers. All previous conferences, embrace in one place the (efforts of) the students, professors, companies and institutions alike by the focused topics, the ideas that came to fruition and which were realized, thus, elevating the SCEESD as an acknowledged and renowned platform, where know-how, experience, new technological developments and advanced ideas have gathered together.’- this is only a fragment of what prof. Lihnida Stojanovska- Georgievska conveyed to the students.

This year, the Conference provides a rich and diversified agenda, which provides not only students’ papers, but it encompasses also exceptional lectures about current topics, which are related to climate change, energy transition, sustainable energy, digitalization and Artificial Intelligence (AI), as well as the role of innovations in the energy sector.
