10. Course Goals (acquired competencies): This course will focus on strategies to develop the written, verbal, non-verbal, and
technical communication skills of students.
The main purpose is to introduce students to the fundamentals of business communication, to develop and refine their oral communication skills so that students will be able to apply them in
workplace interactions, both at the interpersonal level and in a more public space.
11. Course Syllabus: Identifying core components of effective writing and communication in engineering. Rights and responsibility in communication. Communication model and communication process. Research models. Goal defining. Writing oral presentations to various audiences. Writing technical reports, recommendations, and reports. Verbal and Nonverbal communication. Speaking and listening. Active and passive listening.
Types of meetings according to the purpose and participants. Agenda and preparation of meetings. Briefings. Formal and informal communication in projects. Individual / team work on project tasks. Communication in teams. Motivation and encouragement of team participants. Problem-solving strategies, compromise or win-win strategy. Interpersonal and technical communication. Project presentation and scientific paper. Communication for effective leadership.
Interview preparation and interview simulation. Debating.
