Introduction to the operation of electric generators and transformers. Competence in selection of generators and transformers, according to their place in the power system, and the analysis of their characteristics |

11. Course Syllabus: Basic concepts for generators. Types of generators. Constructive characteristics of generators (synchronous, asynchronous). Turbo generators and hydro generators. Asynchronous generators. Micro generators. Mathematical model. Phasor diagrams. Synchronous reactances. Synchronization. Load diagram. Stability and static overload. Autonomous work of generators. Parallel operation of the generators on the network at constant power and constant excitation. Basic structural characteristics of distribution and power transformers. Magnetic and electrical system. Accessories and devices. Types of transformers. Regimes of operation: no load, load, short circuit. Equivalent electrical scheme. Schemes and vector groups of three-phase transformers. Parallel operation. Transformer energy efficiency. |

Forms of assessment | During the semester, two partial written exams are provided (at the middle and at the end of the semester, with duration 120 minutes), test from laboratory exercises For students who have passed the partial exams and the laboratory exercise test, the exam is considered passed. The other students take the final exam on whole material (duration 120 minutes). The points from the partial exams/final exam and the test are included in the final grade. | |||||||
