Code: 3ФЕИТ03009
ECTS points: 6 ECTS
Number of classes per week: 3+0+0+3
Lecturer: Prof. Dr. Marija Chundeva – Blajer
Course Goals (acquired competencies): Gaining knowledge of the measurement procedures of the most important environmental parameters.
Course Syllabus: Introduction. Types of environmental monitoring. Organization of environmental monitoring. Analytical measurement methods for estimation of the enviromental parameters in different media. Sensors and electrical measurement procedures for monitoring of pressure, speed and velocity of fluids, temperature, liquid level, humidity and illumination. Magnetic measurements. Biosensors. Instrumentation methods for noise and vibrations measurements. Sources of ionisation emissions and their biological effects. Measurement procedures for detection of ionization emissions. Elements of a monitoring measurement system. Automated measurement monitoring systems. Remote measurement methods for monitoring and detection of enviromental pollution. Data acqusition systems for monitoring purposes. Development of new platforms and techniques for signal processing for detection of potential sources of contamination and techniques for monitoring quality of the air, soil and water. Application of software tools for monitoring. Quality insurance of the measurements of the environmental paratmeters and reduction of the measurement uncertainty. Calibrations of the monitoring systems.
