10. Course Goals (acquired competencies): Students will be introduced with architecture of multimedia networks and multimedia transport protocols. Upon completing the coursework obligations, students will be able to design modern multimedia communications networks and services. |

11. Course Syllabus: Introduction to Multimedia Networks. Protocols for interactive services and real-time services (RTP, RTCP, SDP). QoS and service classes. Resource management in multimedia networks. Performances of multimedia networks and services. Multicast architectures. IP Multicast. Multimedia applications. Multimedia protocols. Streaming audio and video. RTSP, RTMP. HTTP based streaming protocols (HLS, HDS, SmoothStreaming). Adaptive Streaming (MPEG-DASH). CDN Architecture. System architecture for OTT services. Features of multimedia players in different operating systems. Multimedia players for WEB. Flash based players. |
