10.    Course Goals (acquired competencies):  Competence for modeling and solving explicit engineering problems using the physical laws of modern physics.
11.    Course Syllabus: Optics: electromagnetic spectrum of radiation, geometric optics, interference and diffraction of light, photometry. Blackbody radiation, Planks law, photons, photoelectric effect. Atomic physics: model of the atom, atomic spectrum, röntgen rays and Compton effect, dual nature of the matter. Quantum mechanics: wave-particle duality, uncertanity, Schrodinger equation. Physics of condensed matter: band theory, structural, thermal and magnetic properties of solid state, introduction in theory of semiconductors, superconductivity. Properties of nuclei.  Nuclear interactions and their application: radioactivity, nuclear reactions. Physical foundations of nuclear energetic.

19.    Conditions for acquiring teacher’s signature and for taking final exam Realized laboratory exercises
20.  Forms of assessment During the semester, two partial written exams are provided (at the middle and at the end of the semester, with duration 120 minutes), tests that are conducted during the classes and a test from laboratory exercises (after the exercises, …). For students who have passed the partial exams and the laboratory exercise test, the exam is considered passed. The other students take the final exam on whole material (duration 120 minutes). The points from the partial exams/final exam and the tests are included in the final grade.
