10. Course Goals (acquired competencies): This objective of the course is to gain competences related to the regulation in the electricity sector. The students will be capable of understanding the energy policy of the EU, Republic of North Macedonia and the region. The students will be capable of understanding the process of energy transition. | ||||||||
11. Course Syllabus: The historical development of the regulative framework and the energy policy in the European Union (EU). The Energy Union – “green energy development”, security of supply and a common, pan-European energy market. Energy Community – the Energy Community Treaty, commitments in implementation of the energy acquis and expected benefits. Regional initiatives – regional electricity markets, infrastructure development and regional planning of use of resources. The Clean Energy Package – Regulations and Directives. Electricity market – Regulations, Directives and Network Codes. Regulative framework in the Republic of North Macedonia. The Energy Law and by-laws. Institutions and stakeholders. Electricity market – participants and relevant entities. Future strategic development of the electricity sector in the Republic of North Macedonia. | ||||||||

19. Conditions for acquiring teacher’s signature and for taking final exam | Regular attendance of lectures and exercises | |||||||
20. Forms of assessment | Two mid/end-term exams (120 min each), or a final exam (120 min) are organized. The student is obligated to complete and submit the required homework assignments and projects, according to the schedule published at the course web site. The exam consists of a set of theory background questions and several exam assignments. The final mark is determined from the weighted average of scores from exams, homework, and project assignments. During the exams it is not allowed to use any literature in printed or electronic form. Calculators are allowed, but not mobile phones, tablets or similar electronic devices. |
