Course Goals (acquired competencies): Application of methods for modeling, simulation and analysis in the research in the areas of telecommunication engineering and information engineering. Understanding the system components and parameters for design of contemporary telecommunication systems.
Course Syllabus: Linear and non-linear transformation of random processes. Moments and cumulatns transformation (direct method and Rice method). Gauss narrowband random processes. Other types of narrowband processes. Outages. Modeling methods in telecommunications. Basic components in contemporary communications systems in realistic operational conditions. Models of communication channels. Models of transmitters and receivers. Modeling errors of complex signals, noise and interference in time and frequency domain. Simulation methods for telecommunications. Performance estimation of communications systems via simulation. Quality of estimators. Monte Carlo methods. Statistical tests. Stochastic differential equations and stochastic integrals. Numerical methods for solving problems in contemporary communications.
