Knowledge about state of the art of wind generator systems (WGSs) and technology, development and contemporary trends of wind energy exploitation, as well applied technologies for optimal wind energy utilisation. Students will obtain competencies for wind generator systems’ analysis and contemporary technologies for wind energy exploitation. |

СWind as an renewable energy source (RES). Wind energy and power potential. Wind turbines with horizontal and vertical axes. Types of electrical machines used in wind generator systems. Stall, pitch and combined power control. Aerodynamics of wind turbines. Comparative analysis of wind power and conventional plants from the aspect of environmental impacts. Elements of WGSs. Contemporary technologies in WGSs. Wind farms. Off-shore and on-shore WGSs. Hybrid systems with wind generators. |
