10. Course Goals (acquired competencies): Introduction to the concepts, application and future directions of the development of wireless networks and mobile systems. Recognize the basic functional and technical characteristics of various network concepts, technical solutions, architectures and protocols. Understanding global development guidelines in the domain of wireless networks and mobile systems. Independently solve problems in the area of wireless networking. Development trends. |
11. Course Syllabus: Introduction and history. Basic concepts (classification, cellular concept, coverage, interference, hendover, etc.) Spectrum issues. Standardization. Types of networks: cordless, cellular, packet-oriented, local, sensor, personal, etc. Architectures and protocols. Access techniques and concept of RAN. Development and features of xG generations of mobile systems (2G, 3G, 4G, 5G). IP support. QoS. Security aspects. Planning and management of wireless networks. Innovative Networking (M2M, IoT, IoE). Energy efficient networking. Future directions of the development of wireless networks and mobile systems. Heterogeneous concepts. New standards. |
12. Learning methods: Lectures, auditory and laboratory exercises, independent work on project tasks and preparation of seminar work, visiting relevant companies and invited lectures by experts from the ICT sector. |

19. Conditions for acquiring teacher’s signature and for taking final exam |
Regular attendance at the teaching and auditory exercises and fully developed laboratory exercises. |
20. Forms of assessment |
During the semester, two partial written exams are provided (at the middle and at the end of the semester, lasting 120 minutes), tests that are conducted during the classes and a test from laboratory exercises. The points from the partial exams, the tests are included in the final grade. In the planned exam sessions, a written exam is taken (duration 120 minutes). |
