Course Goals (acquired competencies): With the successful completion of the course, the candidate will acquire the competencies to design different systems of power management devices (EES), and uses advanced techniques management that contribute to improving energy efficiency in industry and saving electricity.
Subject of the course content: Introduction to the energy efficiency with focus on speed, torque and power factor based control techniques. Electric motors dynamics and energy efficiency analysis. Different control systems for electric motors with improved energy efficiency. Scalar and Vector based control concepts for Variable speed Drives (VSD) for on-line power factor improvement. Fundamentals of Modern PID adaptive controller and flux observer for torque and speed control of induction motors. Industry application of VSD modern control techniques with improved energy efficiency. Potential of energy savings in VSD.
