Cooperative diversity, strategies for low and high signal-to-noise ratio. Cooperative communications with a single relay. Transparent and regenerative relay strategies. Performance analysis of various cooperative protocols. Coded cooperation. Cod design. Distributed space-time and space-frequency coding. Network coding. Cooperative communications with multiple nodes. Distributed system optimization. Optimal power allocation. Cooperative techniques for relay selection. Coverage extension through cooperation. Algorithms for relay allocation. Cooperative and relay networks. Cooperative cellular networks. Network models, network capacity. Multiple access cooperative strategies. Distributed cooperative routing. Application of cooperative techniques in next generation communication systems.
